Ruth Smith

Ruth is a highly experienced commercial lawyer specialising in software development and intellectual property law. With an extensive commercial portfolio gained both in-house and in private practice, Ruth offers practical legal advice and solutions tailored to each client and their individual business requirements.

Having qualified in 1999 Ruth worked in private practice for Burges Salmon and Eversheds before moving in-house to become sole legal adviser to 3T Productions Ltd, a software development company. More recently she fulfilled the role of a lawyer for RM Education plc, an international supplier of hardware and software to the education sector.

With extensive experience of general commercial contract law, Ruth is also equally adept at running high-value project work and drafting terms and conditions for SMEs or business start-ups.

Having studied law at Christ Church, Oxford, Ruth went on to gain a Commendation in her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Chester. She has further consolidated her professional development through a Commercial Diploma and more recently by attaining a Distinction in her Masters degree from the University of Strathclyde (LLM in IT and Telecommunications Law).

Two young children command much of Ruth’s free time, but she and her husband are training them to enjoy good food and the great outdoors!
